Somerset West Village Garden
Tucked away on New Street, this community project is about growing vegetables together and bringing life to an urban space. According to the Somerset West Village Collective, fresh organic vegetables have been available on Tuesday mornings, so check the current times before you visit.
The Playhouse Theatre
The home of the Hottentots Holland Dramatic Society hosts community theatre as well as comedy, music and dance performances. It is a lovely way to spend an evening among locals, and a change of pace after a day of wine tasting.
Independent coffee shops

Vergenoegd Löw and its ducks

Sir Lowry's Pass Wagon Trail

Stony Point penguin colony
If you are willing to drive about an hour, Stony Point in Betty's Bay is a nature reserve with breeding colonies of African penguins, quieter than the more famous Boulders Beach. Confirm opening times and entry details before you go.

Near Stellenbosch, Jonkershoek offers hiking, cycling and birdwatching, with species such as the jackal buzzard and the Cape sugarbird. It is roughly half an hour from Somerset West, so it makes an easy day out.
